Merlet Cognac is a distinguished family-owned distillery with a rich history dating back to 1850. Situated in Saint-Sauvant, France, the Merlet family has been producing exceptional cognacs for over 170 years, evolving through five generations.

The Merlet adventure began in the 18th century when the family produced wine. In 1850, Firmin Merlet set up his first still just outside the village of Saint-Sauvant, marking the beginning of their cognac production journey.

Historically, Merlet exclusively distilled Fins Bois. Today, this 'cru' remains at the heart of their business and their cognacs, but the family also distills other crus, offering a diverse range of flavors and profiles.

In 2010, after over 160 years of crafting cognacs for renowned trading houses, the Merlet family ventured to develop their own label. This bold move led to the creation of several award-winning spirits, including the Merlet VSOP Cognac, which has received accolades.

Today, Gilles Merlet presides over the distillery, ably assisted by his sons, Pierre and Luc. They continue to uphold the family's legacy, blending traditional methods with innovative approaches to create unique cognac expressions.
