Overall (87)
A rich and complex XO with plenty of character. The mix of dried fruit, chocolate and spice works really well, while the subtle oak keeps everything structured.
Aroma
Soft floral notes with light wood, becoming a bit more woody as it opens up.
Taste
Rich and full, with dried fruit, candied fruit, chocolate and warm spice. The oak shows up more after a while and balances out the sweeter notes.
Finish
Long and warm, with dried fruit, spice and a touch of oak.

Overall (85)
Frapin XO VIP lands right in my wheelhouse, big Grande Champagne presence, and it carries itself with that old-school elegance I love in a top-end XO.
Aroma
On the nose, it's all about dried fruits at first, think figs and raisins, backed up by a deep chocolate note that leans more cocoa powder than sweet.
Taste
Tasting it, the Limousin oak shows up straight away but it's not brash, there's cinnamon and chocolate swirling together, along with that orange thing again (almost marmalade-like now). Dried fruit is steady throughout, but the spice builds gently rather than rushing your palate.
Finish
Not the absolute longest finish I've had from Frapin, but still more than respectable for an XO.
Overall (86)
Frapin XO VIP is essentially liquid velvet disguised as a luxury decanter. The "VIP" tag on spirits usually triggers instant marketing skepticism, but here Frapin actually backs it up by using exclusively estate-grown Grande Champagne grapes distilled on the lees and aged for decades. This is not a loud, boozy crowd-pleaser meant for shots or quick cocktails it is the ultimate "leave me alone for the next hour" pour.
Aroma
Pour it into a tulip glass, let it sit for five minutes, and you are greeted by an insanely decadent aroma that smells like walking straight into a high-end French patisserie. You get waves of sticky dried dates, candied orange peel, golden raisins, and rich apricot jam, backed by warm holiday spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Once the initial fruit wave settles, you pick up a gentle floral breeze of dried iris, creamy vanilla, and that earthy, antique-wood rancio note only truly old spirits possess.
Taste
On the palate, the texture is ridiculous -it glides over your tongue like liquid silk with practically zero alcohol sting to distract you. The flavor kicks off like a slice of dark Christmas fruitcake loaded with glazed figs, milk chocolate, and gingerbread. Right when you expect it to get overly sweet, a burst of fresh citrus, cracked ginger, and polished French oak jumps in to give it backbone and dry out the finish.
Finish
The finish is absurdly long and gentle, warming your chest without a single rough edge. Long after you swallow, you are left with drying notes of baking spices, toasted hazelnuts, a dusting of dark cocoa, and lingering candied orange oils.
