A.E. DOR Cognac

Founded in 1858 by Amédée-Edouard Dor, A.E. Dor is a distinguished Cognac house located in Jarnac, within France's Charente region. Amédée-Edouard Dor, hailing from a noble Cognac lineage, dedicated his life to curating an exceptional collection of eaux-de-vie. The house's Paradis cellar became renowned for housing these rare pre-phylloxera cognacs, some dating back to the early 19th century. This unparalleled collection allowed A.E. Dor to offer cognacs of remarkable age and quality, distinguishing it from other producers. BRANDYCLASSICS

Throughout its history, A.E. Dor experienced several ownership changes. In 1972, the Benedictine group, owned by the Legrand family, acquired the firm, with Philippe Mitterrand, brother of former French President François Mitterrand, overseeing operations. In 1982, Odile Rivière purchased A.E. Dor, bringing her expertise as an exceptional Maître de Chai. Her blends garnered international acclaim, solidifying the house's reputation for excellence. Following Odile's untimely passing in the early 1990s, her husband Jacques Rivière assumed leadership, later succeeded by their son, Pierre Antoine Rivière. Under Pierre Antoine's guidance, A.E. Dor aimed to create top-quality cognacs appealing to a broader international market. BLOG.COGNAC-EXPERT.COM
