Tesseron Cognac

Tesseron Cognac is a prestigious family-owned house renowned for producing exceptional cognacs since 1905. Founded by Abel Tesseron in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, the brand has evolved through four generations, each contributing to its legacy.

- Abel Tesseron (1905): Established Maison Abel Tesseron, focusing on collecting rare and valuable cognacs. - Guy Tesseron (1940): Joined the family business, enhancing its reputation in cognac production and acquiring Bordeaux's Château Pontet-Canet in 1975.

- Alfred and Gérard Tesseron (2000s): Decided to bottle the family's exceptional cognac reserves under the Tesseron name, introducing their products to a broader audience.

- Noé Tesseron (2018): Brought a modern perspective to the house, enriching its offerings with innovative blends.

Tesseron owns 40 hectares of vineyards in the esteemed Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne crus. These regions' limestone-rich soils contribute to the cognacs' renowned silky texture and aromatic complexity. The estate cultivates three traditional Charentais grape varieties: Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard. While Ugni Blanc forms the backbone of their blends, Folle Blanche and Colombard add finesse and complexity, despite being challenging to cultivate.

Cognacs are distilled using traditional Charentais copper pot stills with naked flame heating. The 'heart' of the distillation is aged in French Limousin oak barrels, initially new and later older casks to mellow the spirit. Aging occurs in Tesseron's 12th-century cellars, formerly a church crypt, providing ideal conditions for slow maturation.

Tesseron specializes in aged cognacs, focusing on XO (Extra Old) and Hors d'Age expressions. Notable offerings include:

- Lot N°29: An XO blend aged for at least 29 years, celebrated for its depth and complexity.

- Lot N°53: A rare blend aged over 53 years, offering exceptional richness and smoothness.

- Experience 01: A limited edition blend combining eaux-de-vie from the family's private reserves, showcasing their heritage and blending expertise.

The Tesseron family's commitment lies in producing cognacs of unparalleled quality, honoring traditional methods while embracing modern innovations. Their cognacs are cherished by enthusiasts worldwide for their elegance, complexity, and the rich history they embody.
