Seguinot is a distinguished cognac house founded in 1890 by Émile Seguinot in La Nérolle, Segonzac, within the Grande Champagne region, the premier cru of Cognac. The Seguinot family's roots trace back to the 13th century, reflecting a deep-seated commitment to their land and traditions.
Over four generations, the house has remained family-owned, with Gérard Seguinot currently leading as the fifth generation, assisted by his son Philippe, the sixth generation. They oversee 85 hectares of vineyards in Grande Champagne, cultivating the Ugni Blanc grape variety, renowned for its role in producing refined and age-worthy cognacs.
Seguinot's production process honors traditional methods. The grapes are harvested at full maturity in early October, and distillation occurs in Charentais stills, a practice unchanged since the company's inception. Aging takes place in their own cellars, where the interaction between the spirit and oak barrels imparts complex aromas and the signature amber hue.
The house offers a range of cognacs, including Sélection, VSOP, Réserve, Napoléon, XO, Age Inconnu, Réserve de la Famille, and Réserve d'Or. Notably, the Réserve de la Famille is crafted from a unique blend of eaux-de-vie, some aged for decades, showcasing the family's dedication to excellence.
Seguinot continues to thrive, exporting much of its production to markets in Asia, including China and Russia. The brand remains a testament to enduring family values and a steadfast commitment to producing exceptional Grande Champagne cognacs.
