Rémi Landier Cognac is a distinguished family-owned distillery with a rich heritage dating back to the late 19th century. Founded by Léopold Landier, a passionate winegrower and distiller, the distillery is located in Juillac-le-Coq, within the esteemed Grande Champagne region, the premier cru of Cognac. Léopold's dedication to excellence laid the foundation for a legacy that has been meticulously preserved and expanded upon by subsequent generations.
In 1973, Léopold's son, Rémi Landier, alongside his own son Jean-Yves, established the Rémi Landier brand. Their vision was to craft elegant and powerful cognacs that showcased the unique characteristics of their exceptional terroir. This endeavor not only honored their family's winemaking tradition but also introduced their refined spirits to a broader audience.
Today, the estate spans 58 hectares, predominantly planted with Ugni Blanc grapes, renowned for their suitability in cognac production. The vineyards benefit from the unique "groie" soils, a blend of clay and limestone, which impart a distinctive aromatic richness to the grapes. Hand-harvested to ensure quality, these grapes are transformed through traditional methods, including distillation in copper pot stills and aging in French oak barrels from Limousin and Allier forests.
