Cognac Pasquet, located in the Grande Champagne region of France, is a family-owned distillery with a rich history dating back to 1730. The estate's origins trace to the Serillet family, who began viticulture and distillation in Eraville. In 1977, Jean-Luc Pasquet and his wife Marie-Françoise established the Cognac Pasquet brand, marking a new chapter in the family's legacy.
Pioneering in organic practices, the Pasquet family transitioned to organic farming in the mid-1990s, achieving official certification in 1998. This commitment to sustainability is evident in their cultivation methods, which exclude chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides, ensuring the health of their vineyards and the quality of their cognacs.
The estate spans 14 hectares (35 acres) and is planted with Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Montils grape varieties. All production occurs on-site, from grape cultivation to distillation, using traditional methods such as natural yeast fermentation and double pot still distillation. This approach allows for precise control over quality and flavor.
Cognac Pasquet offers a diverse portfolio, including the L'Organic series, which features expressions aged for 4, 7, and 10 years, and the L’Esprit de Famille collection, showcasing limited editions from neighboring distillers. In 2017, they moved away from traditional classifications like VS, VSOP, and XO, opting instead to label their products by age to provide greater transparency to consumers.
Jean and Amy Pasquet continue to uphold the family's dedication to quality and sustainability. They welcome visitors to their estate, offering tours and tastings that highlight their passion for cognac production and commitment to environmental stewardship.
