Logis de la Mothe is a historic French cognac producer located in Criteuil-la-Magdeleine, in the prestigious Grande Champagne cru of the Cognac region. The estate is closely associated with the Jullien family, whose involvement in viticulture dates back to 1865. For generations, the family cultivated vineyards and produced cognac, with André Jullien becoming one of the best-known figures associated with the brand.
The estate itself has a history extending back to the 12th century. Originally a fortified residence, the property underwent significant architectural changes during the 16th and 18th centuries. Its historic manor house, surrounded by remnants of defensive moats, remains a distinctive feature of the estate. The surrounding vineyards occupy limestone-rich slopes influenced by both maritime and continental climatic conditions.
The Jullien family traditionally managed the main stages of cognac production, from harvesting grapes and distillation to the maturation of eaux-de-vie. The estate was also associated with the production of Pineau des Charentes, another traditional specialty of the region.
Throughout its history, Logis de la Mothe offered several Grande Champagne cognacs, including VSOP, XO, Vieille Réserve, and the older VXO designation. Another notable expression, Réserve de ma Cave, reflected the house's focus on mature cognacs. The brand also offered vintage releases, including rare bottlings from 1906 and the 1950s and 1960s.
In 2017, Logis de la Mothe reportedly discontinued direct sales of its own cognacs and shifted toward supplying Rémy Martin.
