The Ferrand family's presence in the Cognac region dates back to 1469, with a lineage of ten successive generations named Elie Ferrand. Notably, Elie Ferrand VIII, born in 1839, was instrumental in advancing cognac production techniques and expanding the family's vineyards in Grande Champagne, the premier cru of Cognac.​

The family's manor, constructed in 1861 in Segonzac, served as the ancestral home for over a century and a half. This residence, steeped in history, now houses the Fondation Maison Ferrand, dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of cognac and rum.​

In 1989, Alexandre Gabriel revitalized the Ferrand legacy by establishing Maison Ferrand. Under his leadership, the house has upheld traditional cognac-making methods while embracing innovation.
