Favraud Cognac is a historic brand with roots tracing back to the mid-19th century. According to legend, Jean Favraud began developing his cognac blends in the early 1850s, utilizing eaux-de-vie produced from grapes cultivated on his family's estate, Château de Souillac, located in the heart of the Cognac region. In 1886, Jean Favraud acquired Château de Souillac in Jarnac, further establishing the family's presence in the cognac industry.
The distillery at Château de Souillac underwent significant renovations between 1955 and 1960. Subsequently, the property changed hands, first being sold to Denis-Mounié and later coming under the ownership of Hine.
In 2012, the Russian company Ladoga Group acquired the Favraud brand, along with EARL Les Vignobles Réunis, a vineyard owner in the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois regions. This acquisition enabled Ladoga to produce cognac using eaux-de-vie sourced from these esteemed vineyards, ensuring a high-quality product. Favraud Cognac continues to be produced and distributed, maintaining its legacy of quality and tradition in the cognac industry.
