Domaine Fradon is a distinguished family-owned estate located in Réaux-sur-Trèfle, within the Charente-Maritime département of southwestern France. Situated approximately 30 kilometers from the town of Cognac, the estate benefits from the region's temperate climate and fertile soil, ideal for viticulture.
Established in the 1930s by Henri Chainier, Domaine Fradon has a rich history of winemaking. Henri's dedication to the craft laid the foundation for the estate's enduring legacy. Today, the estate is under the stewardship of Michel Fradon, a fourth-generation winegrower, and his wife, Micheline. Their son, Damien, has also joined the family business, ensuring the continuation of their winemaking tradition.
The estate spans 35 hectares, with 24 hectares planted with Ugni Blanc grapes, the traditional varietal for cognac production. While once overshadowed by more rot-resistant varieties, Ugni Blanc remains prized for its suitability to the region's climate and its contribution to the distinctive character of Cognac. Michel and his family oversee all aspects of production, from cultivation to distillation, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and quality.
Domaine Fradon offers a range of cognacs, including VSOP, Vieille Réserve, and XO expressions. The XO cognac, in particular, has garnered acclaim, receiving a gold medal at the World Cognac Awards in 2022.
