Domaine de la Chevalerie is a distinguished family-owned vineyard located in Restigné, within the Bourgueil appellation of France's Loire Valley. The Caslot family, whose winemaking lineage dates back to 1640, has meticulously cultivated this land for over thirteen generations. Today, siblings Laurie, Emmanuel, and Stéphanie Caslot continue their ancestors' legacy, managing the 33-hectare estate with unwavering dedication.
The vineyard's exceptional terroir comprises various lieux-dits, each contributing unique characteristics to their wines. The parcels include Alluvial Terrace, Weathered Clay & Sand, Alluvial Clay & Sand, and Clay and Chalk, all predominantly planted with Cabernet Franc vines aged between 30 to 70 years. These diverse soils and exposures enable the production of distinctive cuvées such as "Chevalerie," "Les Galichets," "Peu Muleau," and "Diptyque," each offering a unique expression of the region's rich viticultural heritage.
In their winemaking practices, the Caslot family adheres to organic and biodynamic principles, emphasizing respect for the environment and the promotion of biodiversity. Certified organic since 2008 and biodynamic since 2012, the estate employs methods such as massal selection, Guyot Poussard pruning, debudding, phytotherapy, and the use of biodynamic preparations.
