The Petit family's involvement in viticulture and distillation dates back to around 1850, when Mr. Goulard, the great-grandfather of the current owner, transitioned from weaving to winemaking. Utilizing guidance from a cousin employed at Hennessy, Goulard established a distillery and began producing cognac, laying the foundation for the family's legacy.
In 1921, the family's vineyard adopted the Petit name following the marriage of Goulard's granddaughter to Albert Petit. The subsequent generations continued the family's dedication to cognac production. Notably, André Petit, son of Albert, made a pivotal decision in 1965 to cease supplying eaux-de-vie to Hennessy and instead focus on crafting and bottling cognac under the family name. Today, the distillery is managed by Jacques Petit, who upholds traditional methods passed down through generations. The estate spans 25 hectares of vineyards, primarily cultivating Ugni Blanc grapes. The production process encompasses harvesting, distillation, aging, and bottling, all conducted on-site to ensure meticulous quality control. The aging process utilizes Limousin oak barrels, contributing to the distinctive character of their cognacs.
